About Park Bench Pictures
Park Bench Pictures was set up by Producers Kerry Skinner and Stewart Alexander to build on the success of their first feature, the UK comedy, Common People. Produced for a micro-budget, entirely funded through angel investment, Common People became the most successful micro-budget British film of 2014. It won numerous awards at international film festivals and played to packed houses for nine weeks at one London cinema before receiving a nationwide release in Picturehouse cinemas throughout the UK. The film screened in consideration for British Academy Awards at BAFTA Piccadilly and BAFTA host Stephen Fry wrote that, “Common People is a rare gem, the kind that makes you thrilled to have discovered it.”
As producers, Skinner and Alexander oversaw every aspect of the process from pitching for finance to marketing the nationwide release and BAFTA campaign. As the creative team who wrote and co-directed the film, The London Evening Standard described the duo as having “the common touch,” producing a feature film that is, “wonderfully genuine” (Toronto Film Scene), “very funny” (Total Film) and “huge-hearted” (Danny Leigh – BBC Film 2014).
Park Bench Pictures holds the rights to two scripts, also written by Alexander, which are currently ready for production. Both have the potential to outstrip the success of Common People by attracting high profile casts and exploiting the unique market appeal that is inherent to their settings. Park Bench Pictures are currently seeking investors, and potential co-producers.
